Masters and Winners - The Bartok Viola Concerto was Karen Elaine Bakunin's debut solo recording. The CD was recorded on the Delos label in Brazil with the Orquesta Sinfoinica da Paraiba under the baton of the eminent Eleazar de Carvalho. Included on this recording are Janos Starker and Aldo Parisot performing the Vivald Concerto for Two Cellos.

Three Concertos - Features the Cinnabar Concerto composed by David Ward-Steinman for Karen Elaine Bakunin. The composition is inspired by Australian Aboriginal folk songs. This neo classical music was recorded with the Moravian Philharmonic in the Czech Republic. Virtuosity and extended techniques show the viola in a brilliant solo vehicle.

Borobudur - Prisms and Reflections - This CD features Karen Elaine Bakunin in the chamber version of Cinnabar by David Ward-Steinman. Commissioned by NANM , and recorded with the composer on piano, the initial recording was so well received that additional funds were awarded for the orchestral version to be created.

Light Upon Light - Dedicated to Karen Elaine Bakunin by the composer Wadada Leo Smith this composition for solo viola is loosely based on jazz improvisation. The piece is based upon Muslim chants in celebration of the goddess Hetep. Written for the artist as a vehicle for her virtuoso technique.

Westwood Brass and Friends - Features Karen Elaine Bakunin on a selection by Canadian composer Bent Dutton entitled Siren of Urak. Yet another composition written for Ms. Bakunin this piece is a dialogue between brass quintet and solo viola.

Works by Ernest Bloch - Laurel Records features Ms. Bakunin on a series of compositions by the eminent composer Ernest Bloch. Included in this collection are: the Hebraique Suite with the London Symphony Orchestra, 1919 Suite with pianist Dolores Stevens, the Unaccompanied Suite for Viola with a posthumous ending composed by Karen Elaine Bakunin, Suite for Solo Viola and String Quartet (arranged by Karen Elaine Bakunin). The CD is completed and awaiting a release date.


Works for Viola and Trumpet - The new CD now in production features Karen Elaine Bakunin and trumpeter Wayne Bergeron in music by Duke Ellington, David Baker, Billy Childs, Patrice Rushen, and Ron Carter. This project showcases performances with Big Band and Strings, Symphonic Orchestra, Rhythm Section, and Mixed Ensemble.
